Hike Day 7: Singi to Kebnekaise Fjällstation >>14 km

The hike route was more or less similar to that we had the previous day. We went up gradually and went down in the same way, more or less. On the way, we encountered more hikers (many of them were on day hikes from Kebnekaise). On the way, we met a couple who were flaunting grand reindeer antlers on their backpacks. As we chatted with them, we figured they had gone quite a bit off-route, climbed up the surrounding hills the whole night to find those!

The Fjällstation was buzzing with enthusiastic hikers, climbers and mountaineers. It was by far, the busiest place we found. Of course, because here was the starting point of many outdoor activities. There were groups from all over the world who were gearing up for their adventures or were catching a breath after achieving their goals. Above us, helicopters were rolling to take supplies to other interior huts along the trail.

For 1-2 km around the station, tents were scattered all over. We were lucky to find some non-rocky spots along a hill-slope to pitch our tents. Also, after 7 days, we got some signal on our phones. Not that we were dying to check what's going on in the world, yet we were relieved to get some communication finally!

Note: Kebnekaise is the highest mountain in Sweden, with two peaks. This fjällstation is located to the southeast at the foot of Kebnekaise. It is the starting point for an ascent to the south summit. The Kebnekaise Fjällstation is well-equipped with common kitchens, showers, restaurants and souvenir shops. Travellers can also take helicopter tours of the surrounding mountains of Kebnekaise.
